Dear Parents,

Today we began the day by choosing books in the library. I have noticed that a lot of students in P2 love reading comic books. There is a great selection at the library for boys and girls of all ages to enjoy. After the library we did some read-to-self with our new books.

During Daily Five we began our very first session of word-work. Today students only had to sort their words into groups that they decided. Students were able to inquire about sounds, patterns, and relationships between words. We will be looking at our word-work menu tomorrow at possible activities we can do throughout the week.

Next was math. In math we had to create a word problem for a given equation, 20 + 13 = 33. For example, P2 had 13 minutes of stamina on Monday and 20 minutes of stamina on Tuesday. How many minutes of stamina has P2 built this week? Students then were able to create a word problem that we will try and work out tomorrow.

To end the day we had unit. In unit we continued with grammar, focusing on plural nouns. We looked at the many different rules, and will review them throughout the week.

We also continued to create symbols. Students published either their family symbol or their learner profile symbol.
