Razkids is a fantastic website that gives students a wide range of levelled books to choose from. I have personally set each student's level according to their current reading test. Students will be able to read books from their independent level, as well as books that are one below or one higher than their independent level. Students can do a variety of activities on Razkids such as, read, listen, voice record, and test their comprehension. I highly recommend this programme!
How do I get started?
First you must login to the website https://www.raz-kids.com/ or download the application. Press login!
Now you must find my account.
Next, you must find your child's account.
Finally, you must click on your child's name and enter their password.
What do I do once I login?
Why don't you begin reading! Click on the spaceship that says 'Reading Room'. There will be a huge selection of books to choose from. Students will not be able to read higher levels if they do not pass the comprehension tests. Understanding the text is just as important as reading the words accurately.
Headphones: listen to the story
Book: read the story normally
Question mark: comprehension test
An independent reading level is the level at which a child can read a text effectively on his/her own with ease. Hardly any errors are made and comprehension is excellent at this level.
What is an instructional reading level?
An instructional reading level is the level at which a child needs the support of a teacher, parent, or tutor. This is the level where the greatest progress in reading occurs.
Students are learning to read good-fit books. These are books that aren't too hard or too easy. They are books in which they can challenge themselves in with little support.
Is this only available online?
No! You may download the application on your tablet or smartphone. We are using this in the classroom during 'listen to reading' time in our Daily 5 programme.
