Another week is down! I can't believe how fast time is going. We are already half way day with our first unit.
To begin the day we had math. Students are really enjoying our imaging warm-up activity. They are beginning to realise that we all count in different ways. Some students prefer counting in groups, singularly, multiplying, creating images in their mind etc.
We then had Daily Five. In Daily Five we introduced 'Read to Someone'. The students did really well at building their stamina by demonstrating great reading behaviors. It was also wonderful to hear the students discussing their stories with each other, focusing specifically on 'check for comprehension'. We then did some writing and the students were able to do 13 minutes of independent writing. That is fantastic stamina compared to our first few days! I am really impressed with how well our progress is growing.
To end the day we had unit. We continued with some grammar, focusing on the apostrophe symbol and nouns. Students became familiar with using the follow.

He's got _ ________. He hasn't got _ ________.
She's got _ ________. She hasn't got _ ________.
It's got _ ________. It hasn't got _ ________.
Each week we are going to look at different parts of speech and grammar rules. Our interactive grammar notebook is going to be a great resource to refer back to throughout the year.
