Dear Parents,
The students had a great day filled with learning and swimming. Many did not want to go home early and were saying they wanted to keep on learning. What a great response!
This morning we began with The Daily Five. Students worked on a new comprehension skill 'make prior connections with the text'. When reading, students must think about how the book relates to them - characters, problems, settings etc. As a class we read a book that we all could make a connect to. It was about a day that the rain did not stop raining. Being able to make connections to a text will help students understand their book better.
In unit the students had to pick a learner profile and create a sensory poem about it. They then created some symbols that looked like their chosen profile.
To end the day we had math class. We looked at a number line from 0-100 and where numbers should be placed. Students used their eyes to correctly space out the numbers.
