Dear Parent,

Today the students had many special classes. It felt like I barely got to see P2! :(

In unit we looked at the symbol for TIS (the blue one that has a sail ship). Together, we brainstormed what the symbol represents and means. Students made some very in depth suggestions - international, people traveling in the boat to TIS, the water being Taihu Lake, the circle representing the earth, people traveling from around the world together.

In math class we continued with our number activities. Students participated in various activities that revised what we have been learning in the last week. Tomorrow we will be learning about number lines.

During our Daily Five time, students continued to build stamina for reading and writing. Our main focus today was demonstrating how to write independently. Students showed some really great skills, especially writing straight away. Starting straight away is important for writing stamina. If students are talking to their friends, their writing will not improve. At the end of the lesson a few students shared their writing to the class.

Please remember that we have swimming tomorrow.

Questions you could ask your child:
What does writing independence look like?
What does the TIS symbol mean?
Tell me a number greater than 908?
Tell me a number less than 800?
