Dear Parents,

Today the students began the day with some Daily Five. I will be testing the students this week, to make sure that they are developing and progressing at a good rate. It is important to note that there will be levels (around mid alphabet) where students will take longer than others to show progression. Students on lower levels should show faster progress. If a student passes a test, I will be testing them again to see if they can be moved up to an even higher level. Majority of students are showing really great progress. For those students who have not passed their test, they will continue to work on their reading strategies to ensure success later in the school year.

Next we had math. In math we have been continuing with bar graphs and pictographs. The students are showing great strengths, which means they will be able to complete a math test soon to demonstrate their knowledge.

To end the day we had unit. Students were given 3 balloons to inquire about. One had air inside, one had water inside, and one was frozen. This was a big clue, as students still didn't know what our unit was about. After popping, touch, melting, questioning, and thinking, some students figured it out. We are going to study about solids, liquids, and gasses!
